On a Side Note – when I was in school I discovered the ‘real’ reason I love being a photographer: I like being in complete control. As in, I’m pretty much a control freak (I have discovered this is true of most photographers) and photography allows me, and the others, to get that out in a healthy way.
My husband is a videographer but I have never thought about using his video light to add light to any of my subjects! Maybe because it’s small (it fits in the palm of my hand) so I thought it couldn’t deliver enough light. And sure enough you have to get up close and personal in order to shed any light but it is SO worth it! Note: he likes the images created too and we are looking into getting one or, likely, three larger LED video lights so we don’t have to be so close to our subjects. We’ve always used larger light set-ups so this really has me excited!
I used it first on my pregnant, and very tired, sister in law. She is so beautiful and I think this technique really shows that off:
A couple days later my husband took some time to clean out Fred’s (his dad’s turtle) tank. Since he was out and about running around I decide to photograph this debonaire amphibian and he is handsome.
We also went outside. The light just wasn’t as effective outdoors, though. Still, I wanted to share the picture because Fred just looks so dog-gone good.
