For this week, we were challenged to use a diffuser with our flash. I am ashamed to admit that I don’t own a common plastic diffuser. As long as I have owned my camera, it is one of the first things I should have purchased along the way! I’ve always used other things, usually a tissue. And that’s just what I did this time.
But I have spent more time editing the photos than I did taking the pictures. Well, that’s not really all that uncommon. But I started playing around in Photo Shop Elements creating a new background for the image. For a first attempt it’s not too bad but overall I am not satisfied. I hope you like it anyway.
The angel is one of my husband’s Mamaw’s dolls. I took it into the kitchen and sat her down on top of the microwave on her cloud shaped pillow. I opened the window behind the microwave for direct sunlight to pour in from the right. Then I mounted my flash on a stand in front of and just to the left of the doll, tilted the head to a 45* angle and slipped a bit of tissue under the built-in diffuser. I stood directly in front of the doll and the flash was between us and to my left a bit.
