Week 18 = Candlelight Photography. I usually try to photograph a living subject, and I think it probably would have looked a lot better if I had, but I decided to do a still life subject for something different this time around. Besides, it gave me a good excuse for purchasing a little knick-knack I would have never purchased otherwise, even though it made me happy to look at it. The little bird reminds me that spring is just around the corner! Although I took several variations of this image, I am only sharing my favorite one this week since we are out of town again. I hope you like it.
After reading several tutorials about how to photograph in candlelit situations, I opted to purchase a few more candles; locating one behind, one to the side, and one in front. I would have liked prettier candles but am delighted that the metal around the tea-light candles seemed to fit in with the overall image.
Even though the birdie was purchased to be the subject of the image, I really like the way the light falls on the frosted glass bottle, twine, and key. That may be my favorite part of the image!
