Summer is almost here, school is almost over, and a lot of my friends are just about ready to give birth to precious new bundles of joy. With that in mind, and since newborn photography is the direction I want to be moving toward, I have looked up an article on photographing your sweet new darling. Katherine Marie shares a beautiful list to help you get the job done! I would add to it to include personal effects. I did one shoot which included a wooden rocking horse that had belonged to the newborns mother and aunt when they were children.
If either Mom or Dad, Grandma or Grandpa are or were in the military, try including items to represent that fact. Something such as their hat, or if they are deceased and you have access to their flag, include that. Perhaps you have a hand-me-down necklace from your great-grandmother. Once you have posed your baby girl, drape it across her back and allow the pendant to hang over her shoulder. Or maybe Mommy and Daddy are huge Carolina Gamecock fans, take a photo with a team jersey! Simply stated, make your photo personal. I guarantee, no one else will have an image like yours! I hope you find Katherine’s article helpful and when you take some photos using any of her tips, drop me a picture, I’d love to see your results!
